Nurturing future authors

High school senior Rachel dreams of being a writer someday. The Océ Future Authors Project gave her a head start.

During this summer program she got to practice her craft, meet established authors and learn about digital publishing. Best of all, she got her work published.

New opportunities

With digital technologies publishers can profitably print books in runs lengths from 1 to 10,000. As a result, they can publish a wider range of titles. Including the work of new talent like Rachel, a high school senior in Boca Raton. To help young writers like her, we set up the Océ Future Authors Project.

The business of writing

Océ Future Authors Project teaches young authors about the writing process and digital publishing. In an eight-day summer workshop they work on writing poems, stories and essays with the guidance of teachers and established authors. At the end, their work is published and digitally printed by Océ and then sold by Barnes & Noble.

Being published is amazing

“The workshop helped me realize that writing is about imagining,” says Rachel. “It has impacted my writing and how I see myself as a writer. Being published is an amazing thing and puts me one step closer to where I want to be.”
